Research Areas


  • Segmental Paving
    Laboratory and full-scale accelerated trafficking studies of concrete block pavements and clay brick pavements involving tests on nearly 200 prototype full-scale pavements. Development of design procedures and construction methods including machine laying of pavers.
  • Airport, Industrial and Heavy Duty Pavements
    Development and application of computer-based design methods, computer-assisted specification writing.
  • Accelerated Trafficking Studies
    Full-scale and reduced scale testing of roads and heavy duty pavement subjected to accelerated trafficking. Pavement instrumentation and evaluation.
  • Repeated Triaxial Load Tests
    Development and application of computer-controlled true triaxial repeated loading equipment.
    Characterisation of anisotropic materials. Simulation service evaluation of materials.
