Postgraduate Coursework

Study at postgraduate level can provide the professional with essential specialist knowledge, improved professional performance and enhanced promotional prospects.

The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering has been Australia's leading provider of postgraduate engineering education for over 40 years. Our academic staff have national and international reputations in their areas of specialisation, and receive many invitations to undertake higher level consultancy for industry and government. The content and scope of all our postgraduate courses are continuously updated to ensure relevancy to the academic and professional needs of practitioners.

Current participants include, but are not restricted to, consultants, contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, private sector providers, and government and local government employees, from diverse industries.

Postgraduate Programs and Plans

A program is an approved program of study which leads to the award of a degree, diploma or certificate. A plan is a specialisation in a focused area of study within a program.

From 2008 the Faculty of Engineering at UNSW has introduced new Programs for Graduate Certificate 7338, Graduate Diploma 5338, Master of Engineering Science 8538 and Master of Engineering Science (Extension) 8539. Within the various programs a wide range of plans or specialisations are available.

School Plans in the MEngSc Master of Engineering Science Program 8538

The following plans (specialisations) are available in the MEngSc program 8538:

Masters Project: A 12UOC Masters Project CVEN9930 is available within all specialisations as an Elective. However students must first gain the approval of the specialisation authority before enrolling in it.

Courses: A course is an individual study unit offered within a program and plan. All courses within the new program and plans commencing in 2008 are 6 UOC. All courses are not offered every year. Courses on offer for semester 1 in 2008 are indicated in our current postgraduate timetable.
