Supplementary Exams

Eligibility

A new School policy for the awarding of supplementary exams has been in place since 2006. There has not been any change in policy with respect to the awarding of supplementary exams for illness or misadventure. This will continue, but please note that submission of a Special Consideration request (https://my.unsw.edu.au/student/atoz/SpecialConsideration.html) does not automatically result in the awarding of a Supplementary Exam.

Eligibility for School of Civil and Environmental Engineering Supplementary Exams is offered to undergraduate students in their final stage (as classified by the University) whose current session results include a single fail and where the single fail is in a CVEN course with a final exam and where the marks for that course are in the range:

  • 40 – 49 (inclusive), or
  • 35 – 49 (inclusive) if the student is also a potential graduand.

Additionally, if a final stage, undergraduate student has a single fail in a non-exam CVEN course with marks in the range:

  • 40 – 49 (inclusive), or
  • 35 – 49 (inclusive) if the student is also a potential graduand appropriate, additional re-assessment may be offered.
